Security Measures
Lviv is located in Western Ukraine, near the border with Poland. Lviv is considered one of the safest cities in the country.
Why the TECH4Life Congress is Important?
Assistive technology (AT) – are essential tools that help people overcome sensory, cognitive and physical challenges, enabling them to live more independent and fulfilling lives.
Globally, 2.5 billion people currently need at least one form of AT, a number expected to rise to 3.5 billion by 2050. Before the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine had around 2,5 million individuals with disabilities, a number that has surged since that time. The ongoing war in Ukraine has dramatically increased the need for modern solutions for people with different types of disabilities. Some of those people have multiple disabilities, which creates an extra challenge.
Ukraine’s Governmental institutions demonstrate growing interest in AT:
Rehabilitation institutions are establishing assistive technology offices, backed by recent legislative updates
Social institutions are opening rental points for assistive devices and are responsible for providing such devices to people with disabilities
Government offers compensation to employers for work place accommodation for persons with a disabilities
The TECH4Life Congress is critical for fostering partnerships between national and international AT manufacturers to meet this growing demand.
